How to Cool Down When Temperatures Are Rising

It seems summer is getting hotter and hotter every year, so it’s no surprise that people want to find more ways to keep cool. Our air conditioning installation experts at Superior Air are the trusted technicians to solve any problems. Aside from splashing around at your local water park, here are some tips to help you cool down even as temperatures go up.

Choose Cotton

Choose light-colored clothing, preferably made of cotton. The same goes for choosing your sheets. Cotton is absorbent and breathable, so you won’t get that sticky feeling even if you sweat. The material also provides thermal insulation, making it the perfect fabric for both summer and winter.

Crank Up the AC

For the homebodies out there, cranking up the air conditioning is, and will always be, the most convenient way to cool down during the summer. To ensure that your HVAC system is performing optimally, clean and check on it regularly. Better yet, call the professionals. You don’t want your AC to fail when you need it the most, so it’s important to be proactive regarding air conditioning maintenance. Worried about energy consumption? Don’t crank up the air conditioning as soon as you turn the appliance on. Keep it on neutral levels for a while, then periodically lower the thermostat until you get that desired temperature.

Spice It Up

You can actually trick your body into cooling down by incorporating spicy food into your summer diet. If you have a low tolerance for spicy food due to acidity, simply eating hot food will work just as well. The spiciness or temperature of the food will make you sweat, thus lowering your body temperature.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark

Reduce indoor heat by turning off the light fixtures around your house when not in use. You can also opt for dark and heavy drapes to keep the light out altogether. LED lighting is also cooler than more traditional light bulbs.
