Signs Your Air Conditioner Needs to Be Recharged

Air conditioners are designed to control moisture and provide cool air to a home’s interior. However, over time, they may encounter specific problems that make them unable to perform as they should. Here are signs you should take note of that may indicate it needs to be recharged.

If you’re wondering why you would need to recharge it–instead of scheduling an actual air conditioning repair–the problem is basically with the refrigerant. Without it, your unit won’t be able to produce enough cool air, as it’s created to absorb heat too.

Here are the signs to look for:

Leaks. This is probably the most obvious sign you’ll notice. Make certain that your unit has no signs of greasy film. If there are any, it’s guaranteed that your AC has leaks. Ask for the help of service providers to pinpoint the source of any leaks and have them sealed after cleaning.

Loss of cooling capability. As mentioned previously, the main advantage of an air conditioner is that it keeps you cool when temperatures rise. Because refrigerant is what ensures that the air blowing out of the AC is cold, it must be kept at an optimal level to maintain pressurized air circulation. If this doesn’t occur, call an air conditioning maintenance provider near you.

Faulty thermostat. Make it a habit to check the AC’s temperature and try to reset it. Keep track of any temperature changes. Always remember that a defective thermostat can also confirm low refrigerant.
