What to Expect in Your HVAC Quote

Whether you’re planning a routine heating and air conditioning repair this year or are considering a full replacement, neither should be taken lightly. Since you’ll probably approach several different contractors for the project, it will be helpful to know what to expect in a typical quote. This is to ensure you get your money’s worth from your project. Here Superior Air shares what’s typically included:

Labor Cost and Type of Warranty

When getting an installation quote from prospective contractors, ask if they’ll take care of registering the warranty of your new unit. As standard practice, HVAC manufacturers provide warranties for their models and units. Keep in mind that a typical model will last around five years unregistered upon purchase, but can last up to 10 years or more if registered and under warranty.

SEER Rating and Model Number

A typical quote should have the right information to help you understand how to best maintain your air conditioning installation. If you’re getting a full replacement, make sure to discuss with your HVAC technician whether the efficiency of a new system is worth the investment. Along with additional labor, accessories and other fees, the quote should also include information such as the equipment model number and the SEER rating. These let you know about its energy efficiency and help you make an informed decision!

Other Accessories

Your HVAC quote can also include other accessories that help improve your system’s energy efficiency, such as additional insulation in your attic or ductwork. Some accessories can also be added to help improve your indoor air quality, such as UV lights, whole-home air purifiers and even an in-duct media filter. These accessories and upgrades sometimes aren’t mentioned during the discussion, so make sure to talk to your technician about getting all these details in the quote!
